Self-regulation teaching
During the day we experience different states. We are not always attentive, dreaming or relaxed. Therefore, we have to learn to manage these states, depending on the demands of the environment, and solving adaptation problems and providing self-control in situations of stress and anxiety. One of the main benefits of neurofeedback is that it teaches how to self-regulate the electrical function of the brain. Once the ability to regulate one’s states is acquired, it becomes automatic. Then we unconsciously enter the state of attention, creativity, concentration … that is needed. It’s like turning a switch on or off.
Discovering our interior
When one is in a neurofeedback session, it is as if you were engaging in a conversation with oneself – connecting with your inner self and being able to search for these desired states.
Neurofeedback is not invasive
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback that uses real-time digital technology to measure the electrical activity of the brain (EEG). It then presents this information on a screen, which allows the patient to perceive the altered electrical activity, and to learn to modify it. This treatment stimulates metabolism and blood flow, strengthens dendritic connections, as well as the functioning of neurotransmitters, which represents an improvement in brain function. It has no side effects, nor does it require the use of any medication.
It can be a complementary therapy
This is one of the great benefits of neurofeedback. The therapy can be combined with pharmacological treatment (if necessary), psychological and physical therapies, and it can also be done by both children and adults.
